National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment
— INRAE —
The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE, previously INRA) is Europe’s top agricultural research institute and the world’s number two for the agricultural sciences. Its scientists are working towards solutions for society’s major challenges such as agricultural, food, environmental and energy-related transitions. URGI (Unité de Recherche Génomique Info) is the INRAE research unit and bioinformatic platform involved in AGENT. URGI’s research activities, dedicated to plants and crop pathogens, cover data management and integration as well as the study of genome structure and dynamics. URGI hosts a bioinformatics platform, which belongs to the Institut Français de Bioinformatique (Elixir-fr/IFB), which is the French node of ELIXIR, the European infrastructure of bioinformatics for Life Sciences. URGI co-coordinates the ELIXIR Plant Science community which drives ELIXIR’s services towards this specific community of users.
Role within AGENT
INRAE is WP leader (WP5: Development of standards and technology for data interoperability), task leader in WP5 (Task 5.3: Facilitating data curation and exchange of data compliant with the FAIR principles in AGENT’s data infrastructure), one of the four main bioinformatics partners leading activities and tasks in WP6, and contributor to training activities in WP7.
