## — IPK —

IPK is an internationally leading scientific institution in plant genetics and crop plant research. The research work elucidates basic principles of evolution and plant development, improves the adaptability of important crops to changing environmental and climatic conditions, and develops innovative approaches for the knowledge-based conservation, research and exploitation of crop diversity. The IPK combines the conservation, research and exploitation of the genetic diversity of cultivated plants in the Federal Ex situ Gene Bank with innovative research approaches in the fields of molecular genetics, genome research, molecular plant biology, systems biology, bioinformatics and modelling.

## Role within AGENT

IPK is the scientific coordinator of the AGENT project with expertise in all central aspects of genebank genomics, phenotyping, crop modeling and genebank informatics and documentation. IPK is in the leading role of one scientific (WP2) and two administrative (WP1) and dissemination work packages (WP8). Furthermore, IPK is deputy lead of scientific WP3, 5, 6. IPK is the host of EURISCO, serving as the central database platform for integrating AGENT project results. Based on the cumulative expertise, IPK is coordinating the systematic genotyping of barley accessions of the participating genebanks, supervising the integrated analysis of historic phenotype datasets, generating new phenotypic data for wheat and barley collections, supporting the FAIR data integration/sharing/analysis.
